Class Description

My name is Michelle Griswold. I am excited to be joining the Scavo staff as a Behavior Strategist. I was previously part of the Future Pathways staff as the Career Advisor. Prior to that, I taught Social Studies and Special Education at Future Pathways as well as at Goodrell Middle School, New Sights, and PACE. I also worked as a Mental Health/Substance Abuse Intervention Specialist for 3 years prior to becoming a teacher.

I am a 1990 graduate of East and 1992 DMACC grad. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice, then I went back to school to get my teaching degree.  My additional education includes a Master's Degree in Special Education from Drake and an ASC in Ed Leadership from UNI.

I spend my free time with my family, driving my kids to their many activities, and driving my 69 Camaro.  I am also learning to work on my car, but it is by far the biggest struggle I've ever faced as a learner.

Rose Neal

Academic Interventionist

P: 515-242-7589 | E: rose.neal@dmschools.org

Biography

Hello, I am Rose Neal.  I am excited to be the math interventionist at Scavo.  It all started too many years ago. I was in ninth grade and decided I wanted to be a math teacher. So, I graduated from UNI with a BA in Mathematics and Secondary Education.  Then, I earned a Master's degree in Special Education from Drake University.  Now, after many years, I'm pursuing Educational Leadership at Viterbo University.

What do I bring to Scavo?

The Circle of Courage philosophy has greatly changed how I interact with people.

The tenets of Tae Kwon Do are a way of life. I followed my sons in this sport. They liked being my teacher.

My latest venture was as a custodian at CB&I. My hat goes off to all the laborers. This experience may help me to convince my students to stay in school.

I hope to help others see and understand mathematics through my eyes.

Biography

I graduated from Briar Cliff University with a BA in English and Secondary Education.  I taught nine years in DMPS and I am excited for my first year as an interventionist at Scavo High School. I'm currently taking classes to earn my Masters in Educational Leadership.

Outside of school I love to spend time with my family and watch sports. An interesting fact about me is I love the NBA (and dolphins) and have been to numerous NBA areas. Just last year I watched a game in Oakland and Houston!
